Questions
I already use off-the-shelf software. Is it worth switching?
Only if it is forcing you to work its way. Off-the-shelf is cheaper and handles standard work well. Custom pays when the way you operate is what sets you apart — at that point bending you to the software costs more than the reverse.
Do I have to stop everything to migrate?
No. The system usually runs alongside, starting with one part of the operation, and migration happens in stages. Stopping everything on a Saturday is how it was done in 2005.
What if I want to change it later?
Expected. A system that never changes is a system nobody uses. What we agree is how changes get in — not whether they will.
Does it work on a phone?
The part that needs to. A management dashboard is built for a large screen because that is where decisions happen; what the team uses in the field is designed for the phone.
